Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged two male individuals, in connection with the death investigation of 17-year-old Tyreek Demontez Young that occurred on Carlisle Avenue on July 15, 2022. Investigators identified the two suspects and were notified that they were already in custody in connection with a stolen auto investigation.

It was reported that on September 7, 2022, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies responded to a call of a stolen vehicle. The owner of the vehicle left the keys in the ignition and the vehicle running while he went into the store. The store was located on Napier Avenue. When the owner returned, the vehicle was gone. As one of the deputies was taking the information down for the report, another deputy spotted the vehicle at a different store that was located at the corner of Pio Nono Avenue and Mercer University Drive. Additional patrol deputies and members of the Sheriff’s Response Team arrived at the store and apprehended four males, after a brief foot pursuit.

After searching the vehicle, two handguns were found. One of the handguns was reported to be stolen. The ages of the male individuals charged in connection with the stolen auto investigation are 17, 16, 16, and 13 years of age. The juveniles were turned over to the Juvenile Court and the 17-year-old was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators identified two of the suspects involved in connection with the death investigation of Tyreek Young. Investigators had the two suspects served with arrest warrants for the charge of Murder, while they were already in custody for the stolen auto investigation. One of the suspects is currently being held at the Regional Youth Detention Center. This suspect is a 16-year-old male juvenile.

The second suspect was identified as 17-year-old Jaquavious Jamal Scott. He remains in custody at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond, for the charges of Murder, Aggravated Assault, Giving False Name, (3 counts) of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property- Felony, Fleeing or Attempting to Elude a Police Officer, Cruelty to Animals, and Willful Obstruction of Law Enforcement Officers.

Death Investigation on Carlisle Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office was notified that the victim in the Carlisle Avenue aggravated assault incident on July 15, 2022, died from his injuries.

The Bibb County Coroner’s Office stated that 17-year-old Tyreek Demontez Young, of Macon, was pronounced deceased at 4:00 p.m. this afternoon. The next of kin has been notified, per the Coroner’s Office.

Aggravated Assault Investigation on Carlisle Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Aggravated Assault incident that was reported to have occurred in the 1100 block of Carlisle Avenue just before 9:30 p.m.

Deputies responded to the 1100 block of Carlisle Avenue regarding a person shot. Upon arrival deputies found a 17-year-old male with a gunshot wound in the roadway. The victim was transported to the Atrium Health and is listed in critical condition at this time. A 18-year-old male who was taken to Atrium with a gunshot wound to the lower leg, who was with the 17-year-old, is listed in stable condition at this time. No one else was injured during the incident.  

There is currently no information on the suspect.
