Bibb  County Sheriff’s Office investigators and members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested a male in connection to the death of 38-Jimmy Lee Scott III. This incident occurred on July 29, 2022 at the Next Level Kuts, located at 856 Pio Nono Avenue.

Investigators identified 21-year-old Adolphus DeWayne Hughes Jr. as the suspect in connection with this investigation. On September 12, 2022, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators and members of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force located Hughes at a residence that was located on Highland Avenue.

Hughes was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center where he is being held, without bond, for the charge of Murder.

It was reported that Jarel Scott is listed to be in stable condition.

Death Investigation on Pio Nono Avenue

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of an individual and an aggravated assault of another that occurred in front of the Next Level Kuts, located at 856 Pio Nono Avenue. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at 12:13a.m.  

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call of a shooting incident that occurred in front of the barbershop. Two male victims were reported to have been shot. The first victim, 38-year-old Jimmy Lee Scott III was fatally wounded at the scene. According to Deputy Coroner Stone, the next of kin has been notified.

It was also reported that his brother, 39-year-old Jarel Scott, was injured during this incident. Jarel Scott was transported to the hospital and is currently listed in critical but stable condition.

The circumstances behind the incident are under investigation. This incident is in the early stages of the investigation.
