Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators charged two individuals in connection with the death investigation that took place at the Waverly Pointe Townhouses on July 26, 2022.

On the night of July 26, 2022, Investigators were checking the townhouses in Waverly Pointe, to make sure that there were not any other victims on the premises. In one of the townhouses, investigators saw a bullet hole in the front door of a residence. Investigators entered the townhouse to check for victims. Marijuana could be seen in plain view. Investigators immediately requested a search warrant to be issued to search the residence. During the search warrant investigators discovered several handguns, rifles, an abundance of ammunition, and a quantity of marijuana.

Investigators were approached by a female, while at the townhouse, she identified herself as one of the occupants that lived there. Her name was Shaqwonda Lakisha Russell, age 37. She was transported to the Investigations Division to be interviewed.  After being interviewed,  Russell was  transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for the charges of (1 count) Purchase, Possession, Manufacture, Distribution, or Sale of Marijuana and (9 counts) of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Felonies. Russell did not have a bond.

The second occupant of the apartment had left the apartment complex, but he was identified as 38-year-old Kenneth Eugene Williams Jr. Williams is reported to be the boyfriend of Shaqwonda Russell.  Investigators were able to locate Williams on July 28, 2022 and transported him to the Investigations Division to be interviewed. After being interviewed, Kenneth Williams was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Complex for the charges of Purchase, Possession, Manufacture, Distribution or Sale of Marijuana, (9 counts) of Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon or Felony First Offender, and (9 counts) of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission or Attempt to Commit Certain Felonies. Williams did not have a bond.

Through the course of the investigation it was determined that Williams was involved in connection with the death of two individuals and aggravated assault against two others at the Waverly Pointe Townhouses on July 26, 2022. Investigators charged Kenneth Eugene Williams Jr. with ( 2 counts) of Murder and (2 counts) of Aggravated Assault. These warrants were served at the Bibb County L.E.C.   Williams remains in the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center, without bond.

Investigators also had a warrant issued for the charge of Murder, (Party to a Crime), issued for Shaqwonda Lakisha Russell. The warrant was served while she was also in the Bibb County L.E.C. She is also being held without bond.

Death Investigation at Waverly Pointe Townhouses

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that took place at the Waverly Pointe Townhouses, located at 624 Forest Hill Road. The incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at 7:13 p.m.

It was initially reported that a gathering was taking place on the outside of one of the apartment buildings when the shooting took place.

Four individuals were reported to have been shot and they were transported to the hospital by ambulance. According to Coroner Leon Jones, two of the individuals were later pronounced deceased at the hospital. The deceased victims were identified as 26-year-old Roctavia Edwards and 17-year-old Jayden Ellington. Coroner Jones also stated that the next of kin has been notified.

The two other victims, 17-year-old Devin Washington and 18-year-old Christian Edwards are continuing to receive treatment at the hospital. Washington is currently listed to be in critical condition and Edwards is listed to be in stable condition.

This investigation is in its early stages and the information can change as investigators continue to work on this investigation.
