Shots Fired at a Bibb County Deputy

At around 3:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, an undercover Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputy was performing a neighborhood check around Rogers Place, when he observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. The deputy noticed that the four male occupants inside of the vehicle were all wearing ski masks.

The deputy began to follow the vehicle as it made its way to General Winship Drive. The vehicle stopped and the four masked occupants got out, and began firing gunshots towards the undercover deputy as he was traveling down General Winship Drive South.

The deputy took cover inside of his vehicle, and was unable to return fire. The deputy nor his vehicle were struck by the gunfire. The shooters got back into their vehicle and headed towards Old Holton Road. The deputy attempted to catch up to the vehicle, but lost sight as the it turned left onto Riverside Drive.

The vehicle is described as a silver in color, Kia sedan, possibly a Kia Optima. The Kia has four doors, and a handicap tag. The front bumper, on the driver’s side, was hanging down towards the ground. Additional units, investigators, and crime scene investigators arrived in the area, but were unable to locate the shooters.
