The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Traffic Collision that occurred on January 20, 2022. The incident took place on Interstate 75 (southbound) exit ramp, leading to Hartley Bridge Road. This incident was called in to the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 12:30 a.m.
It was reported that a vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Ashley Whittington, collided with another vehicle on the southbound exit ramp. During the collision, Whittington’s vehicle overturned. Whittington was transported to Atrium Health Navicent, by ambulance for treatment, but was later transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta. The driver of the other vehicle was uninjured.
According to the Bibb County Coroner’s Office, Whittington died while being treated for her injuries at Grady Hospital on February 3, 2022. Coroner Leon Jones stated that the next of kin has been notified.
