Bibb County Sheriff David Davis announces that he will be hiring part time, jail certified, employees to work in the Corrections Division at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.

These part time employees can include jail officers and deputies from other law enforcement agencies or corrections officers from the Georgia Department of Corrections. The requirements needed to apply are that one must be a jail officer in good standing, and must have Basic Jail Officer training through POST, or have Basic Correctional Officer Certification through the Georgia Department of Corrections. This opportunity is also open to anyone who may be retired, or is not currently working in the corrections field, and has past experience working in a jail or prison, and who may possess one of the certifications previously identified.

The part time corrections deputies will receive the same pay as an entry level corrections deputy at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office. However, because this is a part time position other benefits such as leave time, pension, or insurance are not available.

This practice has been used by other Sheriffs throughout the state, especially when law enforcement agencies were in need of assistance to help staff their jails during the COVID pandemic.

Sheriff David Davis said, “The hiring of part time personnel will be of great benefit to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Corrections Division. Individuals working in these part time positions will provide much needed supplemental staffing in the jail, improving safety and efficiency for everyone.”
