Bibb County Sheriff deputies make an arrest in an armed robbery incident that occurred at 1689 Eisenhower Parkway, Academy Sports. The incident occurred just before 6:00 p.m. It was reported that a male entered the store and approached a female employee and held a knife against her side.
The suspect then demanded a handgun from the gun case. After receiving the gun the suspect ran from the store. Deputies responding to the location spotted the suspect running through the back parking lot. After a brief foot chase the suspect was quickly apprehended by Bibb County Sheriff deputies. The firearm that the suspect took was recovered and returned to the store.
Deputies arrested 28-year-old Earl Daniel Purnell. Purnell was taken to investigations to be interviewed and then transported to the Bibb Law Enforcement Center and booked on charges of Armed Robbery.
