Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies answered a call of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle in  front of 550 Gray Highway, McDonald’s  just after 8:00 p.m. It was reported that a 2002 Ford Crown Victoria, driven by 28-year-old Master John Henry Brown, was  traveling on Gray Highway towards Spring Street.  Brown reported he did not see the pedestrian crossing the roadway and struck him.

The call was originally reported as a person shot. A witness stated they called it in as a person shot because of the injury they saw on the victim. The witness stated they did not witness the victim being shot. Deputies searched the highway and did not find evidence that a shooting had occurred. At this time this incident is being worked as a pedestrian fatality until an autopsy can be  done to confirm the cause of death is otherwise.

The pedestrian was later identified as 65-year-old  Robert Lamar Williams. Williams was pronounced  dead on scene by Coroner Leon Jones.

The next of kin was notified by Coroner Leon Jones.
