On January 28, 2020, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies intercepted a letter going to an inmate that contained drugs.

Deputies found a Valentine’s Day card that had a small amount of Methamphetamine inside the card. The letter was addressed to 37-year-old Billy Joe Deason II, of Lizella.

Investigators were tipped off that 41-year-old Lori D. Wilkes, of Byron, had been talking to Deason about mailing drugs into the Bibb County Jail to him. Deputies were able to intercept the card and located the drugs between two layers of the card.

Wilkes was taken into custody at her place of work at an address in the 800 block of Wimbish Road on January 29, 2020. She was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Use of Communications Facilities in Drug Transaction, Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute and Attempt or Conspiracy to Violate Georgia Controlled Substance Act. She is being held without bond at this time.

Deason was already in the Bibb County Jail on unrelated charges and now has the charges of Attempt or Conspiracy to Violate the Georgia Controlled Substance Act and Use of Communications Facilities in Drug Transaction. He is being held without bond at this time.
