The Bibb County Sheriff’s Outreach Section is offering free Defensive Driving Classes during the month of July for 16-20 years of age.  The defensive driving class is designed to help teenagers make good, sound decisions on what to do while driving, how to avoid detractions, and how to reduce the number of injuries and crashes that are associated with teen drivers.

To be eligible to attend you must be 16 to 20 years old. A copy of the students valid Georgia Driver’s License is required, (not a learner’s permit). The class dates are July 08 thru July 10; July 15 thru July 17; and July 22 thru July 24. Class times are 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Two days of classroom instruction will be held at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Outreach Section Office, located at 2525 Pionono Avenue Suite 110.

The third day of class will be held at the Bibb County Sheriff’s Training Facility located at 110 Confederate Way in Macon. The third day will consist of time on the state of the art driving simulators. Participants must be registered prior to the first day of class.

Breakfast and lunch will be provided each day for students at no cost. Seats are limited to 35 for the first two classes and 30 for the last class.

This course does not count towards Joshua’s law requirements, but most insurance companies do offer a discount for taking the course.

The cost is free and the classes are being paid by a grant from the State Farm Insurance Company.
