The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office has closed off the westbound lanes of traffic in the 3000 block of Mercer University Drive near the Georgia Department of Labor due to a water main break. Traffic westbound on Mercer University Drive is being detoured at Dempsey Avenue to Columbus Road. Traffic westbound on Columbus Road is being detoured at Berkner Avenue. Motorist can take Berkner Avenue north to Winifred Way, then west to Burton Avenue. Motorist wanting to get back to Mercer University Drive can take Burton Avenue south, back to Mercer University Drive and continue westbound. Eastbound lanes of Mercer University Drive are open to traffic. Motorist are urged to find an alternate route and avoid Mercer University Drive westbound lanes, west from Pionono Avenue to Anthony Road, and Columbus Road west from Pionono Avenue to Mercer University Drive. If you travel in this area expected traffic delays.
