Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a pedestrian accident with injuries on Fulton Mill Road near Clayts Circle just after 8:15 a.m. Thursday morning. It was reported that a 1998 Ford Ranger, driven by 58 year old DeJuane Parham, was traveling south on Fulton Mill Road. The pedestrian, who was later identified as 67 year old David Lawing of Macon, was on the right side of Fulton Mill Road near Clayts Circle. As the truck continued south, Lawing darted out into the path of the truck. Parham swerved to the left, over into the northbound lane, in attempts to avoid the pedestrian but was unable to avoid striking him.
Lawing was transported to the Navicent Health Hospital with serious injuries. His condition is still critical. Parham was not injured in the accident.
The accident is under investigation and no charges have been made at this time. Anyone with information about this accident is asked to contact the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
