Traffic Accident On Georgia Avenue Causes Power Outage In the Area

Bibb County Sheriff’s Patrol Deputies responded to a traffic accident just before 3:00p.m. on Georgia Avenue, near Nisbet Place. It was reported that 25 year old Sheral Deshazer of Macon was traveling west on Georgia Avenue in a 2016 Nissan Versa. Deshazer veered over into the eastbound lane, then suddenly veered back over across the westbound lane, traveling off the roadway and striking a utility pole.

Deshazer was transported to the Navicent Health Hospital by ambulance to be treated for minor injuries he sustained in the accident. A Georgia Power crew arrived on scene to access the damage, replace the utility pole and restore power to the area which was lost as a cause of the collision.

Georgia Avenue is blocked off to vehicle traffic from the 1000 block of Georgia Avenue east to Spring Street at Georgia Avenue for about 5 hours. We will release updated information on the road reopening once we are notified by Georgia Power. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office asked that motorist use alternate routes in this area until the roadway has been reopened.

Anyone with information in reference to this accident is urged to contact the Bibb Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500.
