Bibb County Sheriff’s Property Investigators charged Christopher Matthew Gage in connection to other burglary and theft investigations that occurred in the Fulton Mill Road area on January 9, 2019. Gage was charged in connection to a burglary and two entering autos that occurred at the First Evangelical Church, located at 3401 Fulton Mill Road. It was reported that sound equipment and other items were taken from the church during the burglary incident. Two of the church vans were also entered the same night.

Gage was also charged in connection to the burglary and an entering auto that took place at the Grant and Cook Equipment Company, located at 3439 Fulton Mill Road. This incident also took place on January 9, 2019. It was reported that the business was entered and a company vehicle was also entered. Gage was seen fleeing the property after being spotted by the business owner.

The 2004 Chevrolet truck that Gage used during these incidents and the commercial burglary of the Dollar Tree store was reported to have been stolen from the Holiday Inn Express, located on Harrison Road, on January 7, 2019.

Gage was arrested on January 9, 2019 and charged with Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property- 2nd degree, and a separate case of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property-Felony (Stolen Auto).

Investigators added the charges of (2cts.) Burglary- 2nd degree, (3cts) Entering Auto, and Theft by Receiving- Felony (stolen auto) through the course of this investigation.

Arrest Made in Commercial Burglary Investigation

Bibb County Sheriff’s Property Investigators identified and arrested a suspect in connection to a commercial burglary that took place at the Dollar Tree, located at 5033 Brookhaven Road. Investigators identified and arrested 18-year-old Christopher Matthew Gage at the Econo Lodge hotel in west Bibb County, without incident, at around 5:00p.m.

Gage is currently being held at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for the charges of Burglary, Criminal Damage to Property- 2nd degree, and a separate case of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property-Felony (Stolen Auto).

Asking for Public’s Assist in Commercial Burglary Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in helping locate and identify a commercial burglary suspect. The Dollar tree, located at 5033 Brookhaven Road was burglarized by a male suspect, driving a Chevrolet truck.

According to surveillance footage the suspect drove his vehicle into the front glass doors of the Dollar Tree at around 6:45 Wednesday morning. After entering the business the suspect walked towards the back of the store. The suspect looked through a glass window of one of the offices and then walked back towards the front of the store. Before getting back into the truck, the suspect reached into an ice cream chest and took an ice cream. The suspect backed the truck up and fled the store in an unknown direction. The alarm system was reported to have not been working at the time of the incident.

At around 10:00a.m., a business owner in the 6000 block of Columbus Road contacted the Bibb Co Sheriff’s Office in reference to a male suspect abandoning a Chevrolet Silverado truck and fleeing the scene. Property Investigators responded to the call, identified the vehicle as the same one used in the commercial burglary of the Dollar Tree. The vehicle was recovered and taken to the crime lab for processing.

Investigators are looking for a white male, with a slim build. He was last seen wearing a yellow in color pullover and dark pants.
