The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Ocmulgee East Blvd, just north of Herbert Smart Airport Rd. The accident took place at around 2:08p.m., Wednesday afternoon.
It was reported that a white Jeep Cherokee, traveling south on Ocmulgee East Blvd., collided with a tractor trailer that was headed north. Witnesses stated that the Jeep Cherokee veered into the path of the tractor trailer. The tractor trailer, driven by 52 year old Melissa Scott of Milledgeville, was unable to avoid the collision with the Jeep Cherokee.
The driver of the Jeep, 47 year old Amanda Michelle Malphurs, was pronounced dead at the scene by Coroner Leon Jones. Malphurs was from east Macon. The next of kin has been notified.
This fatal traffic accident is under investigation.
