The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a death that was reported at a residence on Trophy Place, just before 5:00 p.m.
Deputies responded to a person assaulting a woman at an address in the 3700 block of Trophy Place. While in route deputies were advised that the suspect was shot by the victim’s husband. Upon arrival deputies found a 25-year-old Tyler Wade McElhenny, of Lizella, in the front yard of the residence naked with gunshot wounds to the chest.
It was reported that a 67-year-old female was on a riding mower cutting her grass when the naked male subject tackled her off the lawnmower. The 66-year-old male, husband of the victim, attempted to pull the suspect off his wife but was attacked by the suspect. The suspect then began attacking the female again and that is when the husband retrieved his firearm and shot the suspect.
The female victim was transported to Piedmont Hospital and is being treated for her injuries. She is listed in stable condition at this time. The victim’s husband had minor injuries and was treated on the scene.
McElhenny was transported to the Atrium Health Hospital where he was pronounced deceased by staff. The next of kin has been notified.
