Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 668 Oglethorpe Street in reference to a call that came into the Macon-Bibb 911 Dispatch just before 2:20 a.m. Wednesday morning about information of a person shot. The shooting was reported to have occurred at 156 Briar Creek Trail. When deputies arrived at the residence they found a male victim shot. EMS also responded to the scene. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was identified as 16 year old Chase Gillis of Macon.

It was reported that Gillis and a male at the home on Briar Creek Trail had been in contact with each other prior to the victim coming to the home. Gillis came to the home on Briar Creek Trail in reference to some type of transaction and was shot by one of two males at the house. They were identified as 19 year old Logan Nettles of Lizella and 23 year old David Billingsley of Macon.  Nettles and Billingsley ran from the home after the shooting and contacted a relative of one of the men. The relative picked them up on Eisenhower Parkway.  This is when the relative drove to the Sheriff’s Office on Oglethorpe Street to report the information of the incident. Both males were detained and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Division to be interviewed. Nettles and Billingsley were released after being interviewed by investigators. The case remains under investigation. The District Attorney will be informed of what the investigation reveals.
