On September 11, 2019, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators were able to follow up on several leads and identify the suspect involved in the shooting of Marques Slocumb. Slocumb is listed in stable condition at this time.
At 11:30 p.m. deputies located and arrested 37-year-old Lester Conrad Summers Jr., of Macon, at the Ecno Lodge located at 4709 Chambers Road. He was taken into custody without incident. Summers was transported to the Investigations Office for questioning. It is unclear what led up to the shooting.
Summers was then taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Aggravated Assault. He is being held without bond at this time.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating Shooting Incident in West Macon
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that was reported to have occurred in the woods near the intersection of Harrison Road and Chambers Road at 10:40 a.m.
Deputies found 28-year-old Marques Jamaine Slocumb in the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds to the lower body. He was taken to the Navicent Health Medical Center and is listed in critical but stable condition at this time.
It was reported that Slocumb was in his tent when an unknown suspect shot him and he crawled to the roadway. The suspect had already left the scene when Deputies arrived. There is no further information on the suspect at this time.
