On February 5, 2020, at 10:49 p.m, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies were checking the area of Montpelier Avenue and Oakland Avenue when they noticed a Honda Accord without a tag.

Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and made contact with the driver, 19-year-old Sharoyal Johnson, of Macon. It was determined that Sharoyal did not have a driver’s license. While deputies were talking to the passengers in the vehicle, they determined that, 22-year-old Covasia Demantis Jordan, of Macon, had a warrant for a Probation Violation.

When Jordan was getting out of the vehicle deputies noticed a bullet in the floorboard. Deputies detained all the passengers, after being notified that there was a gun inside the car. Deputies located the firearm and a bag of marijuana in the vehicle. One of the passengers, 21-year-old Chanston Zachary Batts, of Macon, told deputies that the gun and drugs belonged to him. The firearm was determined to have been reported stolen out of Milledgeville.

Jordan was taken to the Bibb County Jail on the Violation of Probation warrant. He is being held without bond at this time.

Batts was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Possession of Marijuana Less than an Ounce and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property. He is being held on an $8,230.00 bond at this time.

Johnson was released with a warning and the vehicle was released to a licensed driver.
