A Bibb County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputy arrested an individual for drugs and gun charges after responding to a call of a suspicious vehicle in the 100 block of Pierce Avenue at 1:26 a.m. Wednesday morning.

It was reported that when the deputy approached the vehicle, he noticed that the driver was asleep with his foot on the brake. The vehicle was still running and the gear was in the “drive” position. The deputy put the vehicle’s gear in “park” position and turned the vehicle off. The deputy woke the driver and identified him as 31-year-old Stevie Jones Jr, of Macon. Jones stated that he was tired and pulled over to sleep.

During the stop, the deputy found a handgun that Jones stated was inside of the vehicle. While securing the handgun, the deputy found a small digital scale, a mason jar containing marijuana, and a small white box containing empty clear sandwich bags. The deputy also found another clear bag, containing marijuana on Jones’ person.

Jones was arrested and transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for the charges of Possession of a Firearm During a Commission of or Attempt to Commit Certain Felonies and Possession of Substances with the Intent to Use To Manufacture Schedule I or II Controlled Substances. He is currently being held, without bond.
