On June 22, 2019, just after 8:00 p.m. Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies were patrolling the area of Pio Nono Avenue and Mercer University Drive when they witnessed a Toyota Scion make an improper lane change. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. When the vehicle stopped the driver got out of the vehicle and fled on foot.

During the foot chase deputies deployed their Taser and were able to detain the suspect. The suspect was identified as 47-year-old Dexter Wayne Finney Sr., of Macon. Finney had thrown several packages of drugs out of his pockets while running from deputies. Deputies were able to recover all the drugs that Finney tried to dispose of.

Finney was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Driving While Unlicensed, Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance with Intent to Distribute, Possession of Schedule IV Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Related Objects, Possession of Marijuana less than an ounce, Obstruction of Peace Officer. He is being held on a $15,820.00 bond at this time.
