On October 17, 2019, at 7:31 p.m., Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Deputies were checking the area of Brookhaven Road when they spotted a person panhandling near the Dollar Tree store.
Deputies made contact with 25-year-old Dustin Wayne Thomas, of Macon. While deputies were talking to Thomas, he took off running towards the Cook Out restaurant. Deputies were able to catch Thomas in the parking lot. Thomas began struggling with deputies and during the struggle, one of the deputies sustained injuries to his nose. Deputies were able to detain Thomas.
Thomas was taken to the Bibb County Jail for a Violation of Probation warrant; he was also charged with Felony Obstruction of a Peace Officer. He is being held on a $1,850.00 bond at this time.
The deputy was treated and released at Navient Health Medical Center for his injuries.
