The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single vehicle collision, involving a motorcycle. The collision occurred on Interstate 475 north, near mile marker 7. The collision was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 2:23p.m.
It was reported that the motorcyclist, 41-year-old Jason Townsend of Alabama, lost control of his motorcycle when his rear tire had a blowout. The motorcycle crossed over several lanes of travel and struck a guardrail. Townsend and his passenger, 37-year-old Stephanie Burnside of Alabama were transported to the Atrium Health Navicent by ambulance.
Jason Townsend is currently listed to be in stable condition. Stephanie Burnside is currently listed to be in critical condition.
