The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a traffic accident, involving a pedestrian that occurred at around 7:07a.m., Wednesday morning, on Pionono Avenue. It was reported that a Bibb County School District school bus had just made a right turn onto Pionono Avenue. The school bus was traveling behind another vehicle when they made a right turn from Eisenhower Parkway.

Witnesses stated that a female pedestrian was attempting to walk across Pionono Avenue when the accident occurred. It was reported that the vehicle that was traveling in front of the school bus had to slam on brakes and swerve into the left lane, in an attempt to avoid hitting the female pedestrian. The driver of the school bus, 60 year old Curtis Brown, also had to slam on brakes, in an attempt to avoiding hitting 58 year old Mrs. Patty Platz. The mirror that is located on the left front hood of the school bus struck Platz.

Platz was transported to the Navicent Health by ambulance. Platz is listed to be in stable condition.

There were no children on the school bus at the time of this accident.

No one else was injured during this incident. No charges have been filed.
