Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies were dispatched to The Crazy Bull, 473 Second Street, regarding a theft by taking of a cellphone at 02:56 a.m.

Witnesses stated that a 31-year-old victim laid his cell phone down while at the club and 24-year-old Gary Jemod Jones, of Dublin, picked it up and walked off with it. Jones was detained by Crazy Bull security. After the victim learned that Jones was an off-duty officer, he offered that if the phone was returned, he would not file charges. After denying that he took the phone, Jones was detained by deputies after a brief struggle. The theft was captured on The Crazy Bull security surveillance system.

When deputies went to escort Jones out of the club office, he began resisting again. It was not until deputies used a taser that Jones complied. As deputies were trying to get Jones in the patrol car, he again refused. Deputies had to physically put him in the patrol car.

Jones was transported to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Theft by Taking Felony and Misdemeanor Obstruction of Peace Officer. He is being held on a $5,350.00 bond at this time.
