The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office starting on July 27, 2019, received reports that unknown persons had been taking mail from mailboxes in the North Macon area. On August 5, 2019, deputies received a video of one of the suspects. Deputies along with help from the public were able to identify the suspect as 23-year-old Shane Dylan Moody. Deputies located and arrested Moody on August 14, 2019, after a tip was called into the Macon Regional Crimestoppers.
Through interviews and evidence, Investigators were able to make more arrests in the case. On August 15, 2019, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigators arrested 32-year-old Ashley Lorraine Cooper, of Bonaire, and 36-year-old Eric Lee Cowart, of Macon.
Cooper was charged with two counts of Forgery, two counts of Deposit Account Fraud and two counts of Computer Theft. She was released on August 19, 2019, on a bond of $9,550.00.
Cowart was charged with Forgery. He is being held on a $1,850.00 at this time.
On August 16, 2019, Investigators conducted a search warrant at an address in the 1300 block of Lake Valley Road. They recovered evidence pertaining to the case and arrested 65-year-old Andrea White Scott and James Curtis Morgan III, both of Macon.
Scott was charged with Forgery and was released on a $1,850.00 on August 16, 2019.
Morgan was charged with three counts of Forgery, two counts of Theft by Taking, eleven counts of Financial Transaction Card Fraud, one count of Financial Transaction Card Theft and Identity Theft Fraud. He also had a warrant out of Jones County. He is being held on a $49,330.00 bond at this time.

Mail Thief Arrested After Crimestoppers Tip
Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies were able to arrest a suspect that was captured on video, after stealing mail from a residence in the 100 block of Ashford Park on August 11, 2019.
Deputies were able to able to use the video and pictures to identify the suspect. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Crime Prevention Network deputies sent a B.O.L.O. asking for assistance in locating 23-year-old Shane Dylan Moody on August 14, 2019. A tip was called into the Macon Regional Crimestoppers that Moody was at the Home Town Suites located at 1459 Eisenhower Parkway. The tip was called in only twenty minutes after the B.O.L.O. was distributed out.
Deputies spotted Moody as they were entering the parking lot and were able to take Moody into custody after a short foot chase. Moody was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Theft by Taking. He also had warrants for Theft by Shoplifting and Criminal Trespass on unrelated cases. There is also a Violation of Probation charge from another unrelated case. Moody is being held on a $1,950.00 at this time.
