Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies arrested a Macon man for possession of a firearm by a felon. Just after 01:26 a.m., on October 4, 2019, deputies responded to 600 block of Poplar Street regarding a suspicious person.

When deputies arrived, they found a black male going into a red Humvee. The suspect spotted deputies and tried to flee on foot when deputies approached him. Deputies were able to take the suspect into custody after a short foot chase.

The suspect was identified as 32-year-old Matthew Dixon III, of Macon. While deputies were taking Dixon into custody, he tried to pull a pistol that was tucked into his pants.

Dixon was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Entering Auto, Willful Obstruction of a Peace Officer and Possession of a Firearm by Convicted Felon. He is being held on an $11,750.00 at this time.
