Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Deputies arrested a Macon man for possession of a firearm by a felon. Just after 01:00 a.m., on May 16, 2019, deputies responded to the area of Rogers Avenue in regards to shots being fired. While checking the area for suspicious person deputies located a red Chevy Avalanche truck leaving the area.

Deputies made contact with occupants, 26-year-old Akobeyan Denzell Howard of Macon and 36-year-old Walter Lemcharles Chapman of Macon. While detaining Howard it was discovered that Chapman was trying to hide a firearm in the vehicle.

When deputies went to detain Chapman he tried to resist and fight the deputies. Chapman was tased and taken into custody. The weapon was an AK47 rifle, Chapman had ammunition for the rifle in his pocket.

Chapman was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Willful Obstruction of Peace Officer and Possession of Firearm by Felon. He is being held on a $7,000.00 bond at this time.

Howard was released after deputies determining that he was clear of any charges.
