The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal traffic accident that occurred on Napier Avenue near Habersham Avenue at 01:40 a.m.
It was reported that Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Patrol deputies witnessed a Nissan Sentra fail to stop at the traffic light on Park Street, as it was making a left turn onto Napier Avenue. Deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver sped off down Napier Avenue at a high rate of speed. The driver lost control of the vehicle on Napier Avenue near Habersham Avenue and struck a utility pole and multiple trees.
The vehicle rolled over onto its roof and all the occupants were ejected from the car. Three juveniles remained on the scene; two unknown subjects fled the scene. One of the juveniles, a female, was pronounced deceased on scene by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office. A second female juvenile and a male juvenile were taken to the Navicent Health Medical Center for treatment. Both are listed in stable condition at this time. The next of kin for the deceased have not been notified at this time. It was also determined that the vehicle was reported stolen on February 12, 2020.
Charges are pending the outcome of the accident investigation.
