Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators make an arrest in connection with the fatal shooting investigation that occurred on Thursday morning that was called in at around 9:30 a.m.

A female victim and two other individuals were in transit to the hospital when paramedics and deputies located them. The female victim was reported to be unresponsive, related to a gunshot wound that she had received. She was pronounced deceased by the Coroner’s Office. No one else was injured during this incident.

The female victim was identified as 30-year-old Patricia Gamboa. According to the Coroner’s Office, the next of kin has been notified.

While investigators were at the crime scene on Gray Highway, additional Bibb Sheriff’s patrol deputies responded to the 1200 block of Appling Court. This is the location where the original incident was reported to have taken place. Once patrol deputies arrived on Appling Court, they located a male individual who was identified as the possible suspect in this investigation. Deputies transported the male to the Investigation’s Division to be interviewed.

During the early stages of the investigation, it was reported that a handgun was found near the scene on Appling Court. As the investigation progressed, it was discovered that the recovered handgun was not related to this incident. Investigators turned the handgun over the Crime Lab.

The suspect, 39-year-old Jeremiah Wayne Waller Jr. was taken into custody after being interviewed by investigators. Waller was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Complex for the charge of Murder. Waller also had an outstanding warrant for the charge of Theft by Receiving Stolen Property- Felony. Additional charges are pending. Waller is being held, without bond.

Fatal Shooting Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting incident that occurred in the 1200 block of Appling Court. This incident was called into the Macon-Bibb 911 Center around 9:30 a.m.

It was reported that a female was shot by a male while inside a van, as several people were trying to leave a residence on Appling Court. The van, carrying several passengers, attempted to drive the female victim to the Atrium Health Navicent. One of the passengers inside the van contacted the Macon-Bibb 911 Center and reported their location as they were traveling towards the hospital. The van was located on Gray Highway, just north of the I-16 bridge when Bibb Sheriff’s patrol deputies and paramedics arrived at the scene to find that the female had been fatally wounded, due to gunfire. No one else was injured during this incident.

Additional patrol deputies went to the original shooting scene and located a male that was reported to have been the possible shooter. The male was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division to be interviewed. A handgun was also recovered by Bibb Sheriff’s patrol deputies, near the original scene. The passengers that were inside the van were also taken to the Investigations Division to be interviewed.

The circumstances surrounding this incident are under investigation. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
