The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at 3580 Fair Street. The incident was called in to the Macon-Bibb 911 Center at around 12:20 a.m. Friday morning.
Witnesses stated that two men were in an altercation when a third male approached and brandished a handgun. The third male began to fire shots, striking both men.
The first victim, 60-year-old Stacey Van Battle, died at the scene. The second victim, 49-year-old Derrick Howard, was transported to the Navicent, where he was later pronounced dead. The next of kin has been notified by the Coroner’s Office.
A possible suspect was taken in for questioning. This incident is under investigation. Additional information will be released as soon as it becomes available.
