Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a person shot and armed robbery at the Family Dollar Store, located at 160 Emery Highway at around 9:15 a.m. this morning. When deputies arrived at the store the found one of the store employees with a gunshot wound to the leg. She was attended to until paramedics and the Macon-Bibb Fire Department arrived at the scene.

It was reported that the black male suspect entered the store and approached a store employee. The suspect demanded that the employee open the safe and give him the money. When the employee was not able to open the safe, the suspect fired a shot at the employee, striking her in the leg. The suspect fled the store on foot. He is described as being 6 feet in height, wearing a camouflaged jacket and dark pants.

The store employee was transported to a local hospital to be treated for the gunshot wound. She is in stable condition at this time.
