The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a drowning that occurred on Lake Tobesofkee at the Claystone Park, located at 6600 Moseley Dixon Road. The incident took place just before 10:30 p.m. Witnesses stated that two separate boats both carrying two occupants were negotiating an area on the lake when they both collided. The victim, later identified as 49-year-old Christopher Robert King, was thrown from the boat.
King was found and removed from the water by witnesses that helped both boaters. King was transported by ambulance to Coliseum Northside Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
Bibb Sheriff’s deputies, members of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department, and the Department of Natural Resources responded to the scene.
The family was notified by the Coroner’s Office.
