Bibb County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies arrested a male individual, shortly after a Commercial Burglary of the Family Dollar, located at 800 Pio Nono Avenue. The incident occurred at 12:43 a.m.

Deputies were dispatched to a burglar alarm at the Family Dollar. When deputies arrived, they found that one of the front windows was removed and temporarily replaced with a wooden board. The area around the wooden board was pried open, exposing a way for someone to enter the business. The store management and investigators arrived at the scene and reviewed the surveillance footage. A suspect entered the store and took several packs of cigarettes and lighters before fleeing.

Patrol deputies checked the neighboring areas around the store and located a male walking down the street, carrying two bags. The items that were inside of the bags were discovered to be from the Family Dollar. Deputies took the suspect back to the store and determined that the male  fit the description of the suspect that was viewed on the surveillance cameras.

The suspect, 55-year-old Alan Patrick Dortch, was transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center for the charge of Burglary. Dortch also has a Felony-Probation Violation hold. Dortch does not have a bond at this time.
