The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a Commercial Armed Robbery that took place at the McDonalds, located at 550 Gray Highway. The incident occurred at around 11:00p.m. Saturday night.

According to witness statements, a male suspect entered the McDonalds, wearing a black and red colored wig. He asked for the manager. The suspect brandished a handgun and told the manager to take him to the back office and open the safe. The manager complied with his demands. While the suspect was in the office, the manager and another employee ran towards the front of the restaurant.

A gun shot was heard from the back office. The suspect was seen running from the office, out of the restaurant, and ran towards the Baconsfield Business Center, located at 750 North Avenue. The business center is located directly behind the McDonalds.

A short time later, witnesses stated that they heard a male screaming for help. The male was found wearing only his boxers. He was lying near the  wig, several articles of clothing and money , all connected to the armed robbery. The male was reported to have been shot in the left thigh.  Initial evidence indicates that the suspect accidentally shot himself in the leg during the incident.

The male was identified as 26 year old Donte Sherrod Grayer of Macon.  He was transported to the hospital where he is listed to be in stable condition. No one else was injured during this incident.

Investigators identified Grayer as being the suspect involved in the McDonald’s Armed Robbery and he will be transported to the Bibb County LEC upon his release from the hospital.

This investigation is ongoing.
