The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a commercial armed robbery that occurred on Wednesday morning just before 9:30 a.m. at the Reliance Food Mart located at 3609 Pio Nono Avenue. It was reported that a black male entered the store and went to the restrooms. He left the store, then returned a short time later and walked over to the ATM as if to use it. The store employee told the suspect it was out of order. The suspect walked over to the front enclosure where the store employee was behind the counter. The suspect pulled the door to the enclosed area and got into a struggle with the employee. During the incident the suspect displayed what was described as a long gun. The suspect grabbed a bag containing an undisclosed amount of money and fled the store on foot. No one was injured during the incident.
The suspect is described as tall and slender. He was wearing a blue jacket and long dark pants. No other information is available at this time.
