The Bibb Sheriff’s Office is investigating an Armed Robbery of the Habersham Record & Tape Shop, located at 2661 Montpelier Avenue that happened at 1:55 p.m.

It was reported that a black male entered the store brandishing a knife and demanded money. The suspect cut the clerk on the right hand, as she was trying to flee the store. The suspect took some items and left the store on foot. The clerk was taken to the Navicent Health Medical Center and is listed in stable condition. No one else was injured during the incident.

The suspect ran towards Napier Avenue, the schools in the area were locked down due to the suspect’s close proximity. The suspect was captured at 2:35 p.m. in the 1000 block of Hendley Street after a short foot chase. Deputies detained 59-year-old Jesse Lee Lester, of Macon. Lester was taken to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigation office for questioning. The schools were cleared to release the students after Lester was taken into custody, he did not go on any school property.

Lester was taken to the Bibb County Jail and charged with Armed Robbery. He is being held without bond at this time.
