The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a commercial armed robbery that occurred at the Gulf Store located at 2893 Napier Avenue just after 10:00 a.m. Tuesday morning. It was reported that the employee was outside the store when he was approached by two black males. He was forced back into the store at gunpoint where the suspects demanded the money from the store. After taking an undisclosed amount of money, both suspects ran out of the store.

A Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputy, who was close by, pulled up into the store as one of the suspects fled out of the front door on foot in an eastbound direction across Bartlett Street. The deputy chased the suspect on foot, but lost sight of him. He is described as a black male, approximately 6 foot in height. He was wearing what appeared to be dark colored pants, and a sweatshirt around his head and face. He was armed with a semi-automatic pistol. The second suspect described only as a black male exited the store after the first suspect and ran away in a westbound direction towards Napier Avenue.

The employee was struck in the head with the gun by the suspect and had sustained some injuries. He was taken to the Coliseum Northside Hospital to be treated for the non-life threatening injuries to his head.

The incident is currently under investigation. Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office at 478-751-7500, or Macon Regional Crimestoppers at 1-877-68CRIME.
