The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a commercial armed robbery that occurred Saturday night just before 11:00 p.m. at the Circle K located at 2580 Riverside Dr. It was reported that the suspect entered the store and approached the employee, pointing a handgun. The suspect fired one shot, when he became frustrated with the employee. The suspect took an undisclosed amount of cash from the cash register.
The suspect ran out of the store, towards the Applebee’s parking lot. A deputy that was driving through the parking lot was alerted to the robbery by a passerby. The deputy made contact with the suspect in the Applebee’s parking lot where a brief altercation occurred. The altercation continued to the intersection of Pierce Ave and Sheffield Rd. During the altercation the suspect displayed a handgun and was shot by deputies. The suspect was transported to the Navicent Health Center where he was later pronounced dead by hospital staff. The suspect was identified as 39 year old Shamir Deangelo Terry, of Macon.
No one else was injured during the robbery.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office will be investigating the armed robbery and GBI will be investigating the shooting.
