The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a commercial armed robbery that occurred Sunday morning just before 8:30 a.m. at the Best Western Inn and Suites located at 4681 Chambers Road. It was reported that the suspect, described as a black male, entered the business wearing a mask and holding a handgun. The clerk at the front desk saw the masked suspect enter and screamed as she ran towards the back door of the motel. The suspect went behind the counter and attempted to open the cash drawer, but was unable to get it open.

During the incident, a guest at the hotel, identified as a federal agent with the military, heard the scream from the clerk and went to see what was going on. Once discovering what was occurring, the agent confronted the suspect near the front counter of the motel. The suspect made his way to the door and fled the motel on foot. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect was described as being around 5’10” in height and weighing approximately 220 pounds and having a beard. He was wearing blue Velcro Tennis Shoes, dark colored jeans, an orange or light red button up shirt and dark colored hoodie.
