Bibb County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the intersection of Short Street and Main Street, in reference to a carjacking just before 10:40 a.m. Saturday morning.

Deputies met with the 21-year-old male victim who stated he was giving his friend a ride. When they were near their destination, his friend brandished a handgun and demanded his cell phone and vehicle, a 1993 Honda Accord.

Deputies placed a lookout for the stolen vehicle. The vehicle was spotted hours later by deputies behind the Americas Best Inn located at 4951 Romeiser Drive. Deputies attempted to make contact with the suspect, 22-year-old Edward Flowers and the stolen vehicle. Flowers fled on foot but was apprehended after a brief foot chase.

Flowers was transported to the Bibb Law Enforcement Center where he was booked on charges of carjacking a motor vehicle and obstruction of law enforcement officers. Flowers does not have a bond at this time.

The victim was not injured during this incident.
