Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies answered a call of a person down at the corner of Beech Ave and Pio Nono Ave, at Winship School. The call was received just before 8:00 a.m. Thursday morning. It was reported that a passing motorist was traveling on Beech Ave when they saw what looked like a person laying in the walkway at the vacant school entrance. The motorist turned around to check and immediately called 911.
When deputies arrived they found the victim, 16 year old Jayvon Sherman, lying in the walkway, unresponsive, with a gunshot wound. Sherman was later pronounced dead at the hospital. Sherman next of kin was contacted by Coroner Leon Jones. No further information is available for release at this time.
