Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of two people shot just before 11:00 p.m. Thursday night at the Palm Tree Extended Stay Hotel located at 2690 Riverside Drive. It was reported that the two victims, 17 year old Jakari Phelps and 22 year old Willie Phelps were meeting out in front of the hotel when they were approached by a black male that neither said they could identify. Jakari Phelps stays at the hotel. They reported that the suspect said something to them and both victims started running towards the front door of the hotel. They ran inside followed by the suspect.

The victims were knocking on doors trying to get someone to open a door and let them in. One of the victims and the suspect got into a physical altercation in the hallway of the hotel. The suspect fired shots from a gun he was carrying, striking both victims in the left leg. One of the victims, Jakari Phelps was also struck in the head with the gun as the suspect swung it at him. The suspect fled the scene on foot before deputies arrived. He is around 5’9” to 5’10” in height, wearing a dark jumpsuit, glasses and a black hat.

Both victims were transported to the Navicent Health Hospital to be treated for the injuries which are non-life threatening. No further information is available.
