The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a homicide that occurred in the 200 block of Fairview Avenue just before 11:30 a.m. Friday morning. Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 823 Applewood Street in reference to two people shot at the address. When deputies arrived they found a male and female outside the residence with gunshot wounds. They were identified as 39 year old Tanvonya Smith of Macon and 24 year old Jonathan Risby of Macon. Smith had been shot once in the right foot. Risby was shot multiple times. Both victims were transported to the Navicent Health Hospital to be treated for the gunshot wounds. Risby was pronounced dead at the Navicent a short time later. Next of kin was notified by the Bibb County Coroner’s Office. Smith is in stable condition.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators also responded to the scene. It was reported that the shooting occurred in the 200 block of Fairview Avenue in front of a house. The victims ran to Applewood Street which was within a block of Fairview Avenue. The suspect was described as a black male in all black clothing. No further information is available at this time.
