The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a single car fatal traffic accident that occurred on Lamar Road near Country Oaks Drive just before 11:30PM Tuesday night. It was reported that the compact vehicle was traveling south on Lamar Road when it veered right, off the road, traveling on the grassy shoulder for several feet before striking the cement bridge railing. The vehicle went down into the creek and came to a stop, partially submerged in the water.
Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies and Macon-Bibb Firefighters arrived at the scene and got the female driver out of the vehicle. There were also some citizens in the water when deputies arrived attempting to get the driver out of the vehicle. The driver was transported to the Navicent Health Medical Center where she was later pronounced dead by doctors at the Navicent. The name of the driver is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
