After further investigation, it was determined that this incident was accidental and not a drive- by. It was determined that the adults reported to have been in the home at the time of the incident were discovered to be 4- juveniles ranging from ages 14 to 17 years old. It was reported that a 16 year old male was playing with the handgun when it fired striking the 2 year old.  At this time no charges have been filed. This incident is still under investigation.

Rice remains at the Navicent hospital. He is listed in stable but critical condition.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigating a Shooting Incident

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a shooting incident that occurred at 4523 Ayers Road. Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the home just before 5:00PM. When deputies arrived they found a 1 year old male, with a gunshot wound to the upper leg. Also at the house were several adults and five children who ranged from the ages 8 years old and younger. It was reported that  1 year old Terrion Rice,  who will soon be turning 2 years old on Friday; was on the front pouch when someone drove by and fired shots. Witnesses stated that they heard an argument just before deputies arrived.

Rice was transported to the Navicent hospital to be treated for his injury. He is listed in critical but stable condition.
