The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s assistance in locating 16 year old Aurie Mathis. He is wanted in connection with the murder of 41 year old James Robert Young Jr. Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators discovered through the investigation that Mathis was the suspect that was with Young on Monday, June 19, 2017 when they forced their way into the home at 152 Bradstone Circle to burglarize it. Mathis also fatally shot Young during the incident. An arrest warrant has been signed on Mathis for Felony Murder.
A photograph of Aurie Mathis is attached to this release. He is 5’6” in height and weighs approximately 140 pounds. Anyone that sees Mathis should not attempt to approach him, he may be armed with a gun.

Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Is Investigating A Homicide And Attempted Burglary
Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to 152 Bradstone Circle just before 10:00 a.m. Monday morning in reference to a person shot. When deputies arrived they found a black male just inside the front door of the home with a gunshot wound to the head. The male was fatally wounded and pronounced dead at the scene. The male, discovered to be a suspect in the burglary, was with another black male that had forced the front door of the home open and entered the home. The resident was home and was startled by the intruders. She yelled at them and the two suspects ran towards the front door. As the suspects ran towards the front door, one suspect dropped a television that he was carrying. The second suspect turned and fired a shot, with a gun he was carrying, back into the house, striking the first suspect that dropped the television.
The second suspect continued running away from the house on foot. The resident in the home was shaken up but not injured. The deceased male was identified as 41 year old James Robert Young Jr. of Macon. Investigators are currently following up on information in reference to the incident.
