Bibb County Sheriff’s Investigators have charged 45 year old Tenita Shoats with murder in the fatal shooting of her husband, Vernon Shoats. Bibb County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a call of a person shot at 180 Hidden Lake Court, Hidden Lake Apartments just before 6:00 p.m. Sunday evening. Deputies found the victim, Vernon Shoats Sr., lying in the floor of their apartment with multiple gunshot wounds. It was reported that Tenita Shoats and her husband had been arguing and had a physical confrontation on Sunday prior to the shooting. It was reported that Vernon Shoats had a gun in his hand and at some time during the argument and confrontation Tenita Shoats got the gun and shot her husband. He was shot once in the chest and once in the head.
Tenita Shoats was transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigative Division and interviewed on Sunday evening. She was later transported to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center and booked on the charge of murder. No bond has been set at this time.
