Bibb County Sheriff’s Office investigators are asking for the public’s assistance in helping identify and locate a person of interest in connection with an aggravated assault investigation that took place near the intersections of Jasmine Avenue and Oakland Avenue on June 7, 2021.

The person of interest is described as a slender black male, possibly with a goatee and mustache. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, and blue athletic pants with a design running down the side of each leg. He was also wearing a black hat and black tennis shoes that have the white “Nike” logo on the sides. The male was also carrying a black and white backpack. Pictures of the male are attached to this media release.

The vehicle that the person of interest was occupying is described as a two door, possibly silver Honda. The vehicle has tinted windows and aftermarket specialty rims. Photographs of the actual vehicle are attached to this media release.

MEDIA RELEASE: Aggravated Assault Investigation

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an aggravated assault incident that occurred near the intersection of Jasmine Avenue and Oakland Avenue at around 10:45 a.m.

Investigators that were in the area, quickly arrived at the scene. They located an unresponsive male in the back yard of an unoccupied residence, located at 1509 Oakland Avenue. Investigators discovered that the male was not breathing and immediately began to perform life saving measures. The male began to breath on his own. Investigators noticed that the male was bleeding in the chest area, from a gunshot wound, and applied a chest seal from a medical kit.

Once paramedics arrived, the male victim, 25-year-old Latrell Howard, was transported to Atrium Health Navicent, and is listed in critical but stable condition.

The circumstances surrounding the incident are still under investigation. Further information will be released when it becomes available.
